Hi little witch,
My mom scratched out "Wichy Woman" on my favorite Eagles album...that really choked me because it had the greatest twin lead guitars on that song...

having been raised as a dub, as i look back to those days, i can't count the number of times issues were raised by the pettiest of things.
buying a vehicle that was anything but a foor-door sedan - you know, the kind most suitable for service - could in fact start a whirl-wind of gossip - he's not putting "kingdom" interests first...they don't need another car - if they're that well off then they should be helping out a little more with our kingdom hall's expenses etc.. what are some of the most pettiest issues you have seen raised while you were a dub?.

Hi Mysterious,
I was bummed out we counldn't play cowboys and indians with my cousins who could because their dad wasn't a dub so their mom let them...
Other petty things:
hushed whispers going around the KH after the service meeting because someone bought a colour tv (this was in the early 60's when that was considered an unnecessary luxury) especially when they already had a perfectly good b&w and many in the cong. didn't even have one at all
and as I said in the chat the other day, I observed my mom and aunt in a big dillemna over whether or not they should give the cat a freshly trapped mouse because the cat did not kill it, and thus it was being fed to the cat without being properly bled...

Ballistic,
Haha...we were lucky our elders never caught us during "field service" heheif there's anyone here from the Wingham Ont. cong. the term "gravel run" give you a hint what some of us boys were up to.

I don't think so. But I think that as we accumulate more and more knowledge, ways must be devised to help us manage it.

i have a question.
i know of a couple that were both jws and the husband was dissatisfied with the organization and wanted out.
is it possible for a marriage like this to function?
: Would she be obliged to shun her husband, particularly if he is disfellowshipped?
In an instance like this the JW wife will be obligated to render the "marriage due", and tend to normal household responsibilities, which in the WT world means that she will only do what is necessary and otherwise treat him like the plague. He will eventually get tired of the furnace kicking in whenever she walks through the door. this marriage is doomed unless she follows him out.

there are many events in genesis you can actually take quite literally (when seen through the eyes of ancient peoples) if any of the ancient sumarian writings are factually correct.
fundies like jws wouldn't be able to handle that kinda truth.
Saint S,
Whoa there buddy...haha...
I'm just a kind of person always looking for another viewpoint, that's all. I don't subscribe to either viewpoint. The Bible is just plain impossible from scientific point and the existence of another planet in our solar system I find kinda hard to believe. I mean, when Pluto was discovered there wasn't near the capacity for scanning the skies that we've gained particularly in the last three decades and if there was another planet orbiting our Sun we would have found it by now.

Hi Dan,
I simply mean that biblical accounts of let's say for instance the "Nephilim" take on a whole new perspective within the Sitchin framework. Those who subscribe to the biblical account and those that accept the Sitchin theory may both agree that these beings actually existed, but fundies like JWs could never be swayed from the belief that these "Nephirim" were "spirit beings" that were once part of "God's" heavenly force who followed a once good but turned bad angel named "Satan" and materialized as supermen and did some earth women until they were banquished to a place where as my grandad said once during a meeting at the KH when answering a question - "all they could do now is look".
